CNC Precision Machining of Motor Shafts: A High-Precision Manufacturing Solution for Core Components of Motor Transmissions
As the core of a motor’s rotary transmission, the motor shaft’s dimensional accuracy, coaxiality, surface finish, and dynamic balance directly determine the motor’s operational stability, noise level, temperature rise, and service life. CNC machining offers advantages such as high repeatability, multi-process machining in a single setup, and stable batch production.
Utilizing a CNC lathe, milling-turning machine, and cylindrical grinder in a coordinated machining process, it can achieve an outer diameter tolerance of ±0.003mm, coaxiality ≤0.005mm, roundness ≤0.001mm, and surface roughness Ra 0.4–1.6μm, meeting the stringent assembly requirements of high-speed motors and servo motors.
Multiple Processes Completed in a Single Setup
Milling-turning machines can complete external turning, end facing, step machining, grooving, threading, keyway machining, drilling, and milling in a single setup, avoiding cumulative errors from multiple setups and improving consistency and yield.
Can process stepped shafts, eccentric shafts, slender shafts, hollow shafts, and shafts with keyways/splines/threads, meeting the diverse structural needs of non-standard motors, geared motors, stepper motors, and brushless motors.
Stable Mass Production and Rapid Prototyping
Supports flexible production from samples and small batches to large-scale production. The processing path is programmed, allowing for fast changeovers, high efficiency, and stable delivery times, meeting the rapid prototyping and batch delivery needs of export customers.
CNC Precision Machining of Motor Shafts: A High-Precision Manufacturing Solution for Core Components of Motor Transmissions
45# Steel / S45C: General-purpose, moderate strength, easy to cut, high cost-effectiveness, used in motor shafts for household appliances and power tools.
40Cr/42CrMo: Alloy structural steel, high strength, good toughness, and wear resistance after quenching and tempering, used in automotive motors and industrial servo motor shafts.
Stainless Steel 303/304: Corrosion resistant and rust-proof, used in precision instruments and outdoor motor shafts.
Aluminum Alloy 6061/7075: Lightweight, excellent heat dissipation, used in micro motors, fan motors, and low-load, high-speed shafts.
III. Standard CNC Machining Process
Incoming Material Inspection: Verification of straightness, diameter, and material report for round steel.
CNC Rough Turning: Removal of excess material, shaping the basic form.
Temperature/Heat Treatment (as needed): Improves strength, hardness, and wear resistance.
Finish Turning/Semi-Finish Turning: Controls dimensions and coaxiality, allowing for grinding allowance.
Keyway/Spline/Thread Machining: CNC milling or power tool holder machining.
Precision Grinding: Ensures bearing seat dimensions, roundness, and surface finish.
Dynamic Balancing: Mandatory for high-speed shafts, reducing vibration and noise.
Surface Treatment: Zinc plating, nickel plating, blackening, anodizing, phosphating, etc.
Full-Dimensional Inspection: Full inspection using projector, roughness tester, hardness tester, and coaxiality tester before shipment.
IV. Key Quality Control Points
Coaxiality and Radial Runout: Directly affects motor vibration and noise; critical shaft positions must be strictly controlled to ≤0.005mm.
Surface Roughness:Bearing positions and oil seal positions require Ra≤0.8μm to reduce friction and extend service life.
Fast prototyping (3-7 days), stable batch delivery times, supporting both small and large batch orders.
